Nathalie LACAN-SOUDRÉ
Designer in the world of home decoration

Dynamic and passionate about creation and arts crafts since my childhood, I started sewing, embroidering, cutting, sawing, and sculpting at a very young age. As a shy person, creating allowed me to express myself and escape into a world of my own! I used to often go to the Saint Pierre market, a neighborhood of Montmartre, in Paris, which is full of shops brimming with fabrics, yarns and accessories of all kinds. While rummaging, I always found what I was looking for. It is a wonderful place, which has not changed over the years and is a must see for those who do not know it.
After graduating high school, I studied fashion design at the school of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, specialized in Haute-Couture. After graduation, I started working in Rome for a collection of evening dresses and then in Paris in fashion agencies.
I loved creating clothes but I loved the world of home decoration even more. So, I was thrilled when the Jacadi company entrusted me with their decoration for babies: bed linen, blankets, furniture, fabrics, wallpapers, travel bags, etc. Still as passionate as ever, I felt the urge to create and share even more. On top of my work, I gave decorative craft evening classes and, during lunch breaks, I introduced embroidery to my colleagues in the office.
Giving arts and crafts lessons was very interesting both socially and creatively, but I wanted to go further by touching more people and highlighting a subject that is particularly dear to my heart: Recycling. Creating while doing good for the planet: it's fun, ecological, economical and accessible to everyone.
I then wrote articles in magazines such as Marie-Claire idées among others and published a book. Yet, I was lacking a unifying media: television. I am currently developing a concept of TV shows. If you are interested, please contact me.
The creation of a handbag with a removable cover allowed me to approach the accessories industry and outsourced manufacturing. Indeed, after having designed the models and developed the cover removal system, I went to a factory in China to finalize the prototypes.
Shifting from decorative objects to interior decoration was a natural move.
The sites were ideal for approaching creation from a different perspective: volume, light, space, circulation, layout, materials and color harmony.
My objective: to build, enlarge, renovate, redesign, decorate in order to create unique, bright, warm, and low-maintenance places in which you feel comfortable.
I now invite you to discover my three areas of expertise: interior design, arts and crafts and styling.
See you soon.
Nathalie.
